Anxiety Buster- Walk Barefoot Outdoors

Did you know that just by walking barefoot is actually considered to be a natural stress reliever?

Most people look to medications to relieve their anxiety however what they don’t know is rather than any medication, walking barefoot can be just as effective at reducing anxiety. And what’s more, it’s free and doesn’t require a prescription!

The earth provides us with the water we rely upon to remain mineralized and hydrated, food we need for energy, and the air we need to survive. However it also provides us with one more thing that tends to bring out health and happiness in us and relieve stress and symptoms of anxiety. That thing is physical contact with the surface of the earth which can be accomplished by walking barefoot.

Now for the science bit!

Walking barefoot can reduce anxiety be 62% by increasing the feel good endorphins. Recent studies that were conducted provide us with evidence that the direct physical contact with the vast supply of the earth’s negative ions can relieve some of the built up stress and anxiety. The negative ionsare able to enter the bodywhich neutralize the damaging positive ions that cause damage to our bodies and in turn cause stress and inflammation. To put this simply, just by standing on a green patch of earth you will be reducing inflammation that causes anxiety!

Mostly, in the modern world we have very limited physical contact with the surface of the earth for ages, because we wear shoes and socks outdoors. Constantly wrapping our feet in unnatural footwear  not only restricts the natural movement of the foots many bones and muscles but it also insulates us from the healing properties of the earth .

So in order to heal some of your unwanted stress and anxiety symptoms, take off your shoes and socks and get your feet back in contact with the earth (grass, sand soil or a natural body of water). Even just 5 minutes of connection with the earth (known as “Earthing” or “Grounding”) can have a dramatic impacton your mental well-being.

Luckily, not only would this physical contact reduce your stress levels but also provide you with many more benefits…

Becoming mindful…..

It has been noted that taking a walk outdoors while being barefoot can clear your mind as while you’re busy in looking for rocks and thorns, you’re actually clearing your mind and focusing on the present situation.

Not only does it clear your mind but also help you sleep better at night. Yes, walking barefoot on the ground is considered to be the ultimate cure for insomnia as when the foot comes into contact with the ground, our skin absorbs the energy from the ground.

So if you want relieve for your anxiety levels- take off your shoes and socks and walk barefoot!

Wishing you health and happiness!
